The Romania Fund is a program to alleviate poverty and hardship in TULCEA, Romania,  administered from Church on the Hill in Birmingham England. The mission team in Romania - Zaharia Chirica ('Miti'),  Pastor Anane and Carmen Benigal - identify programs and needs, distribute help and provide the feedback published on this site. The Romania Fund began operating in July 2002.

Miti is the english-speaking administrator for the fund in Tulcea. He became a born-again Christian in 2002 and together with his wife Paula, is a member of Tulcea's Emanuel church. 





Tulcea is about 350 Km from the capital of Romania, Bucharest. Average wage in the region is £40 ($60) per month and unemployment is 10%.

The Fund began on 16 July 2002. Donations to date total £2442.

In autumn 2002, the Official ELO Fan Club in Holland supported the fund with a special CD release called 'Project Freedom!'  Proceeds from this project to the fund total £269.50. Many thanks to them for their generosity.
